Nigerian footballers delivered standout performances across several European leagues over the weekend, recording goals, assists and notable individual displays as the 2025/26 football season gathers pace.
Leading the headlines were prolific forwards Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu, who both found the net in the Süper Lig in Turkey.
Osimhen maintained his impressive scoring run for Galatasaray, scoring in the club’s 3–0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir. Onuachu also added to his tally with a goal for Trabzonspor, continuing his strong form in Turkey’s top division.
In England, Nigerian players were active across both the Premier League and the EFL Championship.
Midfielder Alex Iwobi featured for Fulham F.C., marking his 315th appearance in top-flight football. Defender Calvin Bassey and winger Samuel Chukwueze were also involved for the London side during the weekend fixtures.
At Nottingham Forest F.C., both Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi produced solid performances. Midfielder Frank Onyeka featured for Coventry City F.C. despite the club suffering defeat.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Ryan Alebiosu provided an assist for Blackburn Rovers F.C. in their victory over Millwall F.C.

In Spain, Ademola Lookman featured for Atlético Madrid in the La Liga, while forwards Umar Sadiq and Akor Adams also appeared in league fixtures.
Across Belgium, midfielder Raphael Onyedika started for Club Brugge KV as they secured an important victory. In France, winger Moses Simon featured for Paris FC.
The performances underline the growing impact of Nigerian players across Europe’s leading leagues, where they continue to deliver goals, creativity and strong displays for their respective clubs.
