Following a viral video circulating on social media involving alleged infractions by officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced the immediate suspension of several senior officers. The suspensions come amid allegations tied to the controversial figure, Mr. Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
In a press statement released on 26th September 2024 and signed by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary to the Board, the Board revealed the suspension of the following senior officers:
Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), who was in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kiri-Kiri, Lagos State, Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), also from the Kiri-Kiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Lagos State.

Furthermore, ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, serving at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, was suspended for allegedly escorting a convicted inmate outside the custodial facility without authorization.
In a separate incident, Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kuje, Abuja, was also suspended. The Board accused him of improperly receiving monies on behalf of an inmate.
The suspensions are part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misconduct of the officers, aimed at ensuring accountability within the service. The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board assured the public that the findings from the investigation will be made public once concluded.
