The Nigerian Army has strongly reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and the safety of all citizens through its Joint Task Force South-East, known as Operation Udo Ka. The military’s stance comes in direct response to recent accusations made on Radio Biafra and social media platforms by Mazi Chinasa Nworu, which the Army has described as entirely baseless and malicious.
In a statement released in Enugu on Wednesday, Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, the spokesperson for Operation Udo Ka and Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, stated that the allegations circulating were designed to discredit the operational success of the Task Force and sow fear among the population.
The Army clarified that it has consistently held periodic internal reviews since the launch of Operation Udo Ka in 2023, with the most recent meeting taking place on May 27, 2025. These strategy sessions, according to Lt.-Col. Unuakhalu, are in line with international best practices, focusing on improving operational efficiency and ensuring strict adherence to constitutional mandates.

He described the claims that South-East Army commanders allegedly met to coordinate attacks on innocent civilians as a dangerous fabrication, asserting that there are no plans, explicit or implied, by the Nigerian Army to target any law-abiding citizens. Rather, he explained, the false narrative appears to be a deliberate psychological tactic aimed at spreading panic, deterring students from writing their scheduled WAEC exams, and destabilizing the region’s fragile peace.
Unuakhalu condemned the spread of such misinformation, warning that it undermines the Nigerian Army’s efforts to secure the region and isolate criminal elements. He urged South-East residents to ignore the unfounded propaganda and continue with their daily lives, assuring them that Operation Udo Ka remains fully committed to its constitutional role of protecting all Nigerians and fostering long-term security.
