Nigeria and Morocco kicked off their participation in the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in good spirits by overcoming Tunisia and Kenya respectively on Thursday, May 1.
Auwal Ibrahim netted the sole goal of the match for Nigeria as they narrowly defeated Tunisia 1-0 at the 30 June Stadium in the first match of the day.
The Flying Eagles found the net in the 38th minute and successfully defended their lead to secure all three points, placing them second in Group B.

Meanwhile, later that same evening at the same location in Cairo, Morocco managed to recover from an early setback to triumph 3-2 over Kenya.
The Future Stars took an early lead with Lawrence Ouma scoring just 16 minutes into the game, but two goals from Mohamed Zabiri (45+3′, 55′) turned the match in favor of the Atlas Lions.
Hassan Beja appeared to have earned a point for the East Africans in the 71st minute, but Reda Laalaoui completed the comeback victory just seven minutes later, positioning Zakaria Aboub’s team at the top of the group based on goal difference.
