The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, under the leadership of Bernard M. Doro, has held a high-level follow-up meeting to strengthen coordination on the implementation of the Online Humanitarian Operations and Response Platform System (OHOPRS).

The meeting, convened after an earlier technical session, focused on addressing key operational issues and improving clarity among stakeholders involved in humanitarian response management.

Officials of the ministry engaged in detailed technical discussions with representatives of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, with emphasis on enhancing system efficiency, improving inter-agency coordination, and advancing data-driven response strategies.

Deliberations reviewed core components of the OHOPRS framework, including real-time information sharing, response tracking, and the harmonisation of humanitarian interventions across affected regions. Participants stressed the need for a system that ensures faster, transparent, and accountable delivery of aid to vulnerable populations.

The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to reforms aimed at strengthening service delivery in the humanitarian sector, noting that sustained collaboration with development partners remains critical to achieving long-term impact.

Representatives of UN OCHA commended the initiative, expressing readiness to provide continued technical support to ensure the successful deployment of the platform.

Both parties reiterated their commitment to sustained collaboration, institutional strengthening, and improved coordination of humanitarian efforts across Nigeria.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain momentum in ongoing engagements and ensure the effective rollout of OHOPRS as a key tool for managing humanitarian operations in the country.
