Nigeria Health Watch is the forthcoming virtual edition of the Celebrating Womanhood Art Gala 3.0.
It is an event designed to merge the realms of art, advocacy, and narrative storytelling.
This initiative seeks to address the pressing issues surrounding maternal health, equity, and access to quality healthcare for women by fostering an environment conducive to impactful discussions and collaboration.
Maternal mortality remains a critical public health challenge, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, including Nigeria, where thousands of women tragically lose their lives each year due to preventable complications related to pregnancy and childbirth.
According to Nigerian Health Watch, this alarming reality underscores the need for systemic changes within healthcare systems to ensure that all women receive the care they need, irrespective of their socio-economic status.
The event is to be hosted on March 28, 2025, in Lagos, and will showcase a diverse array of creative expressions, encompassing visual arts, spoken word performances, music, theatre, and fashion.

Each artistic contribution is intended to illustrate the urgent need for equitable maternal healthcare and to amplify the voices of women who have experienced these challenges firsthand.
“By integrating art into discussions about policy and healthcare, we aim to transform personal stories into powerful advocacy tools that can influence change.
“Importantly, the gala will serve as a gathering place for a wide range of stakeholders, including eminent experts, policymakers, healthcare advocates, artists, and storytellers.
“Participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about actionable solutions that address the root causes of maternal mortality, foster partnerships between sectors, and inspire significant change in healthcare practices and policies.
“This event presents an invaluable opportunity for healthcare professionals, artists, activists, and all individuals who are passionate about advancing women’s health.
“By coming together to share insights, collaborate on initiatives, and learn from one another, we can collectively work towards a future where no woman faces the risk of mortality from preventable maternal health complications,” the organisers said.
