Nigeria advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a decisive 4-0 win over Mozambique in Fes.
Two minutes into the game, star player Victor Osimhen’s goal was disallowed for offside, but the Super Eagles got off to a good start.
Their persistence paid off in the 20th minute when Ademola Lookman scored from a cutback by Akor Adams, breaking the deadlock.
Five minutes later, Osimhen extended the lead, finishing after Alex Iwobi’s clever play through midfield set up Lookman, whose pass deflected off Adams.

Mozambique, making their debut in the AFCON knockout stage, struggled to cope with Nigeria’s relentless offense and posed minimal threat in attack.
Osimhen scored again early in the second half, connecting with Lookman’s smart cross from the left at the back post for his second goal of the evening.
Adams capped off an impressive performance by scoring Nigeria’s fourth goal in the 75th minute, following more excellent work from Lookman.
Nigeria, who could have scored even more, will now face either Algeria or DR Congo in the quarter-final match in Marrakech on Saturday.
