The Niger State House of Assembly has approved the request by Governor Umaru Bago to secure a loan of ₦70 billion.
The money will be used to improve various infrastructure projects across the state.
The approval for the loan was given by the House at plenary on Tuesday.
The House Finance Committee reviewed the loan request and shared their findings with the assembly.
Aliyu Wushishi, the chairman of the committee, explained that the loan is part of a larger plan to raise ₦100 billion over the next 10 years.

The lawnakers supported the committee’s recommendation and unanimously approved the loan request.
Speaker of the House, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, instructed the clerk to send the official approval to the governor’s office.
Earlier, on May 15, the assembly received the governor’s request seeking approval the loan.
In the letter, the governor explained that the loan would help fund essential projects in areas like healthcare, education, infrastructure, water supply, and transportation.
