The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has called for a thorough investigation into the death of a Nigerian content moderator, Ms. Ladi Anzaki Olubunmi, who was employed by Teleperformance, a contracting firm for TikTok in Kenya.
In a statement issued on Thursday, NiDCOM Chairman/CEO Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa expressed deep concern over the circumstances surrounding Ms. Olubunmi’s death. She urged Kenyan authorities to conduct a full probe into the incident while assuring that the Nigerian High Commission in Kenya is actively monitoring the situation and providing support to her family.
Ms. Olubunmi, who had been working with the company since 2022, was found dead and decomposing in her Nairobi apartment last week after being absent from work for three days.

Dabiri-Erewa emphasized the need for a Labour Mobility Law in Nigeria to safeguard the rights and well-being of citizens employed abroad. She stated that such legislation would ensure proper documentation, monitoring, and support systems for Nigerians working in foreign countries, preventing issues related to employment conditions, mental health challenges, and repatriation when necessary.
The NiDCOM chairman extended her condolences to Ms. Olubunmi’s family, friends, and colleagues, while urging Nigerians in Kenya to remain calm as investigations unfold.
She also advised Nigerians seeking employment overseas to engage only with reputable organizations and be well-informed about their rights and available support structures.
Dabiri-Erewa reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad and assisting them in times of need.
