American rapper Nicki Minaj has threatened legal action against Nigerian social media influencer Dr. Penking following a heated exchange on platform X over comments about the rapper’s age.
The dispute began after the influencer shared an old video of the music star on Saturday, adding a caption suggesting that the rapper should retire from the music industry because of her age.
“Nicki Minaj should understand that she has gotten old and retired,” he wrote in the post, which quickly gained traction online.
The message eventually caught the attention of Minaj, who responded directly on the same platform.
The rapper questioned whether the influencer had the right to share a video she recorded years ago, particularly when it was used in a way, she considered insulting.
In her response, Minaj warned that the influencer had been added to a legal case she is pursuing, citing alleged cyberbullying and copyright concerns.
“Do you have permission to use this video that I filmed years ago to harass me on this or any platform? You’ve just been added to the suit,” she wrote.
Dr. Penking later reacted in a follow-up post, saying he was prepared for any legal challenge and defended his comments as an expression of personal opinion.

“Tell Nicki Minaj that myself and my team are ready and eagerly anticipating her papers,” he wrote.
He added that freedom of speech allows him to express his views publicly, insisting that describing the rapper as “old” was based on publicly available information.
“Is she old? Yes, she is 43. There is nothing harassing about this… Should she retire? I think she should. That’s my personal opinion, and I stand by it,” he stated.
The exchange has since sparked widespread debate online, with social media users divided over the limits of criticism, freedom of expression, and the rights of celebrities to protect their image and content online.
