The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee ahead of the 2026–2030 Executive Committee elections, reaffirming its commitment to a credible and transparent process.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau urged members of the committees to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, fairness, and impartiality.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Matthew Burka’a, assured stakeholders that the panels would conduct the exercise with professionalism and diligence, promising a process that meets both national and international standards.

He said the forthcoming election would attract global attention, noting that football bodies such as FIFA and Confederation of African Football, alongside the Nigerian football community, would closely monitor the process.

According to him, the committee is determined to deliver one of the most credible elections in the history of Nigerian football administration.

The Electoral Appeals Committee is chaired by Justice C. J. Aneke, alongside Barrister Benjamin Sati and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal, while Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam will serve as alternates.

In line with NFF statutes, the federation’s General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, will serve as secretary to both committees.

The NFF elections are scheduled to hold on September 26, 2026, in Lafia, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the process will strengthen governance and credibility within Nigerian football.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures in the sports sector, including Director General of the National Institute for Sports, Philip Shaibu, NFF First Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, and Executive Committee members Silas Agara and George Aluo.

The NFF reiterated its commitment to upholding best practices in football administration, as preparations intensify for the 2026 elections.
