Fish out killers of Taraba secondary school teacher -Group tells police

A call for the Taraba state police command to as a matter of urgency fish out the killers of a secondary school teacher in Jalingo, the state capital, has been made.

The call, as noticed by our state correspondent, was made at a press briefing held yesterday by the Jenjo Community Development Association, JCDA while reacting to the killing of the teacher.

Bassey Sarduana Nkuphee, a secondary school teacher, was on Thursday gruesomely stabbed to death by some suspected students of Government Secondary Schools in Jalingo metropolis.

Briefing journalists, Ezekiel Nemuel, who spoke on behalf of the national president of the association, also called on the state government “to take responsibility for the sustenance and sponsorship of the children of the deceased up to the highest level of education.”

They were observed to have also beckoned at the state commissioner of Police to “immediately arrest, investigate and prosecute all the culprits in this heinous act.”

Citing how the ethnic group have been victims of attacks in the past, the ethnic group, as made known by its leadership, stressed the need for security operatives working in the state to always be proactive.

Victims from the ethnic group who they alleged have in the past been gruesomely murdered, includes Oliver Barawani Ezra, Cina Jeremiah, Robinho, and Bassey Sardauna Nkuphee.

Sad that the murder at hand was perpetrated by the victim’s students, the association, according to the group, condemned in strong terms all forms of violence in schools and communities.

They called on the security operatives to be proactive in stemming these acts.

Moreover, the need for the government to strengthen the security around schools and aggressively implement the Safe School global initiative they said can no longer be ignored.

At the time of filing this report, the prime suspect, as gathered by our correspondent, is presently cooling off his heels in the custody of the state police command.
