The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi (Prof) Epiphany Azinge, SAN, has officially suspended all activities of the Asaba Community Youth Council (ACYC) amidst rising concerns about the management and direction of youth affairs in the community.
The decision was communicated in a letter titled, “Suspension of All Activities of Asaba Community Youth Council and Constitution of an Ad Hoc Committee to Evaluate Youth Activities/Functions in Asaba,” signed by the Assistant Palace Secretary, Ogbueshi Chiagor Awodu.
According to the letter, the move is aimed at reassessing the structure and operations of the youth body, with the formation of the ad hoc committee tasked with evaluating and restructuring youth activities in Asaba.
The letter, which followed the Asagba first Executive Council meeting presided over by HRM Asagba (Prof) Epiphany Azinge, stated: “A committee has been constituted to review the activities of the Asaba Community Youth Council. Therefore, I am directed to inform you that all activities of the ACYC are hereby suspended until further notice.”

The ad hoc committee includes notable community such as Obi Nwanazia, Chairman; Chief P. E. Nwokolo (Akudo Ahaba), Ogbueshi Uche Nwajei (Onoi Ahaba), Chief Christopher Chukwurah (Owelle Ahaba) and Dr. (Engr.) Jude Mgbeze, Secretary.
The letter was copied to key figures in the community, including the Omu of Asaba and the heads of the five quarters of Asaba: Umuezei, Ugbomanta, Umuagu, Umuaji, and Umuonaje. It was also sent to the Chairmen of both the Asaba Community Youth Council and the Asaba Community Vigilante.
This decisive move by the monarch underscores the importance of youth affairs in the broader development of the Asaba community. With the formation of this committee, there are hopes for a renewed and well-structured youth leadership that will better serve the interests of Asaba’s youth and the community at large.
