Controversial singer Speed Darlington has come under fire following the release of a provocative video in which he made shocking claims about having a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl.

In the video, he said that he had engaged in the act that involved bloodstains on his bed sheets.

To add to the scandal, he mentioned needing to provide a tip of N2,000 to the cleaner tasked with removing the stains, saying, “before they could come change the sheets for me, I dash am N2,000.”

The backlash from fans and the general public has been swift and severe.

Many were appalled by his insensitivity around such a serious topic, leading to widespread calls for accountability.

In the wake of the uproar, various government agencies, including the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, have reportedly launched investigations into his comments and actions.

In response to the criticism, Speed Darlington attempted to clarify his intentions, claiming that the original video was meant as a publicity stunt to generate buzz around his upcoming song.

He emphasized that in the competitive music industry, controversy can often be a necessary tool for staying relevant.

“If you are not trending, you are not getting booked. Simple!” he stated, though this justification did little to alleviate the anger directed towards him.

Despite his attempt to express remorse for offending his followers, the predominant sentiment has remained one of indignation.

Many X (formerly Twitter) users continue to call for legal repercussions, and discussions about the potential implications of his statements are gaining traction.

As the situation unfolds, it raises important questions about the boundaries of artistic expression and the responsibility that comes with public influence.

@Striv_river said: “Speeddarlington raped a 15- – old girl and went live to talk about it. Do you see how desensitized people are to rape and assault?

“He was so comfortable to admit to a crime because he knows this country would do NOTHING about it. This is extremely triggering. I am sick!”

@Aproko_doctor said: “Children cannot give consent. This is Speed Darlington publicly admitting to rape. The law should take its course.”

@thequeeneze said: “Speed Darlington has always been a degenerate. The signs were there. I will never forgive our society for making miscreants like him famous, these are the repercussions.

“Laughing at his very dry jokes. We will continue to pay dearly for platforming people like him. Lock him up.”
