X users are reacting as the police in Plateau State have detained four local Christian men, including Bitrus Dauda, the financial secretary of St. Vincent De Paul Parish, for their involvement in the kidnapping of two Catholic priests and two seminarians on November 12, 2025.
The suspects, Jacob Amos, Sunday Dah, and Daniel Davou, demanded a ransom of N25 million, which resulted in the priests’ release after 48 hours.
The case revealed an internal church conspiracy driven by greed, challenging initial assumptions that the kidnapping was linked to Fulani herders or Islamist motives amid ongoing regional tensions.
@jovans commented, “The church financial secretary! Please don’t be shocked. It’s usually an inside job. I remember last year when a pastor was caught kidnapping church members, and the community blamed herdsmen. Crooked people.”

@Abudulazz101 remarked, “There’s nothing unusual; this is just a “financial secretary” caught in shady dealings with his superior. Authorities should investigate further; this whole incident might be staged to fuel the narrative of Christian genocide and attract international sympathy and funding.”
@jpobiokafor stated, “No one blames Muslims for terrorist atrocities. But we can’t deny that many bandits and terrorists captured on video having peace talks with the government are Islamic fundamentalists.”
@immortal50 expressed, “True justice involves holding all criminals accountable, regardless of faith or ethnicity. Let’s stop the dangerous blame game and unite against common enemies: insecurity and division. Let’s be guided.”
@Judeakube added, “Thanks for highlighting this. We also need more decisive action from the government and Islamic leaders to curb this trend. Proper investigation, punishment for all involved, and genuine efforts at de-radicalization and decriminalization are essential for true religious freedom.”
