Netizens honour Wigwe on his one year death anniversary

Users on X (formerly Twitter) are paying tribute to Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their son Chizitere, known as Chizzy, marking the one-year anniversary of their tragic death in a helicopter crash in Nipton, California.

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun reflected on the remarkable lives of the Wigwe family, celebrating Herbert as a visionary leader whose contributions to the financial sector were transformative.

“It is with a profound sense of reflection and remembrance that we honour the lives of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his dear wife Doreen, and their beloved son Chizi, one year after their untimely passing,” the governor stated.

He further emphasized that Herbert’s leadership at Access Bank was characterized by a commitment to empowering people and uplifting communities.

“Chizoba, heralded as a source of strength and grace, embodying kindness and compassion, and Chizi, described as a bright light full of promise, are remembered for the hope they represented.

“The absence of the Wigwe family is felt deeply, but their legacy of service and inspiration provides solace in this sorrowful time,” Gov. Abiodun said..

@Victor _Tams said “today, I honour Dr. Herbert Wigwe, a beacon of fearless leadership, a man whose heart was as vast as his vision for education. A man with a dream that will inspire the next generation to lead boldly, without the shackles of fear. Rest in peace, my leader”.

Many remember Herbert as a fearless leader and a beacon of hope for future generations. His dedication to impacting others extended beyond banking to education and philanthropy, influencing countless lives and shaping the industry.

As the community reflects on this painful anniversary, prayers are offered for the eternal rest of their souls and the healing of their loved ones.

@Voiceoftheeast said: “Today marks one year since the tragic passing of former Access Holdings CEO, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba Wigwe, and their son. On February 10, 2024, the Wigwe family was among six individuals who lost their lives in a devastating helicopter crash in California.

Wigwe was a 57-year-old prominent banker and businessman, best known for his role as the group managing director and CEO of Access Bank Plc until his passing.

In addition to his banking career, he founded Wigwe University and established the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe Foundation, contributing significantly to education and philanthropy.
