The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed essential food and non-food items to 2,261flood victims across Potiskum, Nangere, and Jakusko Local Government Councils in Yobe State.
The relief materials, which were delivered to 21 communities in Potiskum, two in Nangere, and six in Jakusko, include rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, nylon mats, blankets, children’s clothing, women’s wrappers, and brocade materials, among others.
Representing the NEDC Managing Director/CEO, Mohammed Goni Alkali, the Yobe State NEDC Coordinator, Prof. Ali Abbas, expressed gratitude to the state government for its support.

He reaffirmed the commission’s dedication to emergency response and development in the region.
Yobe SEMA Executive Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Goje, emphasized Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to working with NEDC and other partners to enhance disaster response capacity in the state.
Also, the Potiskum council chairman lauded the NEDC’s swift intervention and urged beneficiaries to use the materials responsibly.
This intervention aligns with NEDC’s mission to support the recovery and development of communities affected by disasters in the North East.
