A 24-year-old Thai woman, Ms. Pattaphi Wimonnat, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), while attempting to smuggle 46.60 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of synthetic cannabis into Nigeria.
The suspect was apprehended on Thursday, February 20, 2025, during the inward clearance of passengers on a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
She confessed to being a hired drug courier and revealed that she was promised $3, 000 by the drug cartel responsible for the consignment upon successful delivery.
This was disclosed by Director, Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday.
He said in a separate operation on Friday, February 21, NDLEA operatives intercepted 68 parcels of Ghanaian Loud, weighing 42.2kg, hidden in the walls of crated cartons bound for London, UK. The consignment was seized at the export shed of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
Three suspects—a freight agent and two dispatch riders—were initially arrested. Further investigations led to the arrest of the mastermind, Samuel Bitris, at his residence in Exodus Estate, Ajah, Lagos.

Similarly, NDLEA officers at the Onne Port in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, February 20, intercepted a 40-foot container carrying 49 cartons of tramadol 225mg, totaling 49,000 pills, during a joint examination with the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies.
Also, in Nasarawa State, two suspects—Bello Adamu, and Pius Azuka, were arrested on Saturday, February 22, with 517kg of skunk at Kokona/Keffi.
Additionally, in Niger State, two others, Usman Ruwa, and Yunusa Haruna, were apprehended on Thursday, February 20, while transporting 62.7kg of skunk in a Toyota Corolla along the Sabon Asibiti Road, Kontagora.
