The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bayelsa State Command, has arrested a suspected drug distributor, Chimezie Collins, popularly known as Mezico, and sealed his pharmacy premises in Yenagoa.
The suspect, identified as the owner of Mezico Pharmacy located along Mbiam–Yenagoa Road, Kpansia, was apprehended on March 26, 2026.
According to the agency, Collins was found in possession of 1,900 tablets and caplets of various controlled substances, including Tramadol (200mg and 100mg), Rohypnol, Diazepam, and Molly, a synthetic designer drug.
Officers also recovered 150 bottles of Diazepam and Pentazocine injections, as well as 77 bottles of codeine, with a combined weight of 12.461 kilograms. The seized drugs are estimated to have a street value of about ₦3 million.
The NDLEA described the suspect as a long-time target, noting that he had been on the Command’s watchlist for approximately two years due to alleged involvement in the distribution of controlled substances.
Reacting to the arrest, the State Commander, Kanu Sunny Chukwuemeka, commended officers for their professionalism in tracking and apprehending the suspect.
He also expressed appreciation to the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, for his leadership and intelligence-driven approach to tackling drug trafficking.

The commander further acknowledged the support of Douye Diri, noting that the state government’s cooperation has strengthened the agency’s operations in reducing both the supply and demand for illicit drugs.
He warned individuals involved in drug trafficking to desist or face legal consequences.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SN Daniel Howells Obah, the agency recalled a similar operation in August 2025, when another suspected drug distributor was arrested in Amassoma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
