The Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, has expressed readiness to partner with the Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) in the areas of vaccine production, drug development and research in tropical diseases.
The director general stated this on Friday, while on a facility tour at the centre in Kano where he stressed on the importance of collaboration in peculiar research to address national challenges.
He highlighted that their visit was sequel to a request by KIRCT, on tour of it facilities of which he described as first class and a centre per excellent for fruitful collaboration.

Prof. Mustapha also noted that the centre provides opportunities to conduct state of the earth research which would be acceptable worldwide and yield results that can be translated to products that can make the country proud.
While assuring of the NBRDA support, he said the agency is ready to collaborate in the areas of vaccine, drug development and tropical diseases as they have the expertise and experienced staff to facilitate the research.
The KIRCT Director General, Prof. Hamisu Salihu, explained that the centre focuses on three core areas of which include supporting top researchers from universities, training and mentoring.
While thanking the federal government agency for the visit, he restated the commitments of the centre to carry out impactful research and will ensure due diligence and follow up in areas of collaboration.
