Seven senior naval officers have been decorated with their new ranks in a ceremony held at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja.
The event is often referred to as the shipping of stripes.
The news was shared in a press release signed by the Director of Information, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
According to the release, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral, Ibrahim Dewu.
Ogalla praised the officers for their dedication and professionalism.
He extended his congratulations not only to the officers but also to their families, acknowledging that the vital support they provide allows the officers to focus on their duties, ultimately leading to their promotions.

“Today’s ceremony is a celebration of hard work, integrity, professionalism, and perseverance.
“Your promotion signifies not just your past accomplishments but also a new responsibility as lieutenant commanders in the Nigerian Navy.
“You must continue to give your best in the fight against insecurity and maritime crime in our country,” the naval chief charged the newly promoted officers.
The officers who were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commanders are Lt. Sadiq Alhassan, Lt. Augusta Aku, Lt. James Enejoh, Lt. Clement Eyeh, Lt. James Fatika, Lt. Titilayo George, and Lt. Deborah Nwaorji.
Family members, senior officers, and friends were present to witness the decoration ceremony.
