The National Assembly has reopened the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, after six months following her suspension.
A video shared on X by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), showed the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, unlocking the office on behalf of the Senate on Tuesday.
The office had been sealed for six months.
“To unseal Senator Natasha Akpoti’s office, I, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, hereby unseal the office,” he announced before opening the door.
The senator was suspended by the Senate in March for six months due to her protest against Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s decision to reassign her seat on February 20.

This suspension also prohibited her from participating in any activities of the 10th Senate.
Although the suspension ended in September 2025, Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan was unable to return to her duties because of ongoing legal issues and opposition from Senate leadership.
On July 4, the Federal High Court in Abuja deemed the suspension excessive and unconstitutional.
Afterward, the senator informed the Senate of her intention to resume her duties, but the National Assembly rejected her request.
It is still uncertain whether she will rejoin her colleagues when plenary sessions resume on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
