Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, recently confronted the Senate clerk, Mr. Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba, resulting in Nwoba being sent out of the chamber.
The action stemmed from Nwoba’s alleged failure to inform Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of a seating change prior to a plenary session.
Natasha objected to her new position, claiming she was not notified as required by Senate rules, which sparked an uproar, leading to her six-month suspension.

Despite being sent out, Nwoba was not officially dismissed but instead directed to undergo further training to enhance his performance.
In the meantime, Deputy Clerk Mr. Rawlings Agada will serve as acting clerk. The situation has created tension within the Senate following Natasha’s suspension.
In light of the escalating conflict, some senior Senators are reportedly exploring diplomatic solutions to reconcile the differences between senate President Akpabio and Natasha, including the potential withdrawal of ongoing legal disputes to facilitate a collaborative environment in the upper chamber.
