The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has backed the crusade against fake drug dealers across the country, by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration Control (NAFDAC).
Reacting to NAFDAC’s operation in a statement, the NANS National Public Relations Officer, Samson Adeyemi, disclosed that the proliferation of fake drugs in Nigerian markets, posed a threat to the well-being of students.
He stressed that fake drugs could also hamper the future of the country through their negative impact on the youth population, while stressing that the clampdown would ensure that only safe medicines are available for consumption.
He commended the relentless efforts of NAFDAC in combating the proliferation of illegal, and counterfeit drugs across Nigerian markets.
“This noble initiative aligns with our shared vision of safeguarding the health, and well-being of all Nigerians, particularly our student community.

“The presence of illegal, and fake drugs poses a severe threat to the safety, and future of our students.
“Fake drugs often contain harmful ingredients that can lead to serious health complications, jeopardising the lives of young Nigerians, who are the backbone of our nation’s future.
“NAFDAC’s clampdown on these illicit activities is a significant step towards eradicating drug abuse, and ensuring that only safe, and authentic medications are accessible to the public,” Adeyemi said.
He urged members of the public, and government agencies to continue to support NAFDAC in its drive to rid society of fake drugs.
Adeyemi also called on students across the country, to report suspicious activities relating to the sale, and distribution of fake and illegal drugs.
“By supporting NAFDAC’s initiatives, we are taking a stand against the exploitation of innocent individuals by unscrupulous drug dealers, who prioritise profit over human lives.
“We urge all Nigerian students to remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activities related to the sale, and distribution of illegal drugs. Let us work together to create a safer, and healthier environment for ourselves and future generations.
“We also call on the government, and relevant stakeholders to continue providing the necessary support, and resources to NAFDAC in its mission to protect public health.
“The fight against counterfeit drugs is a collective responsibility that requires the active involvement of all sectors of society,” the NANS spokesman stated.
