Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Mar- shal Oladayo Amao, has called on all security agencies to synergize with the military in the interest of Nigeria’s peace and stability.

This is even as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya said that he is ever determined to ensure the medical treatment of troops wounded in action, both within and outside the country.

Air Marshal Amao made this call during a Sallah luncheon organized in honour of the troops by the Headquarters Theatre Command, Operations Hadin Kai in Maiduguri.

He revealed federal government’s planned acquisition of more combat platforms for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), to shore up troops’ air combat efficiency. Director Army Public Rela- tions, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya and his counterpart, Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Amao feted troops of the North East (NE), Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maiduguri, to boost their morale in the critical stage of the ongoing counter terrorism and insurgency operations.

He noted that the Service Chiefs, who were visibly impressed with the performance of the troops, reaffirmed their commitment to their welfare. The duo, he added, maintained that welfare of troops remains topmost in their priorities.

While delivering his remarks, the COAS, who had earlier paid a visit to troops wounded in action at the 7 Division Military Hospital, said he is ever determined to ensure the medical treatment of personnel and their families, both within and outside the country. He added, that those wounded in action will continue to get support and special vocational training to help them cope with their new health status and overcome psychological trauma.

The Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, expressed appreciation to the military for the restoration of relative peace in Borno state. Represented by the deputy Governor, Mallam Umar Usman Kadafur, the Governor said the successes so far achieved, clearly demonstrate the capability of the military in bringing the war to an end.

Earlier, during a routine operational visit to the JTF OPHK to assess the level of successes recorded thus far, the COAS called on troops to be more decisive in routing the criminal elements from their enclaves. He also tasked them to remain dogged and unrelenting in the critical stage of ongoing operations. While receiving operational brief on the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity and Operation Lake Sanity, the Army Chief expressed satisfaction with the successes so far.

He urged them to remain vigilant and proactive during the Eid-el-Fitr Celebration. General Yahaya enjoined troops to continue to decimate the insurgents, and deny them freedom of action. This he said, will provide a safe environment and opportunity for other elements of national power to play their statutory roles in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the theatre.

The COAS was conducted round on inspection of some combat equipment recently revamped using the Nigerian Army Electrical Mechanical Engineers Corps repair capability.
