The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) roundtable of the upcoming Nigeria International Energy Summit (N.I.E.S 2023) scheduled to hold in Abuja from February 27 to March 3, 2023, will unfold strategies for a seamless energy transition with a view to ensuring energy security without putting the country’s economy and its huge hydrocarbon resources at risk.

  The session will commence with a keynote address by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, while former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, will be joined on the panel by top industry Chief Executive Officers (CEOs).

 They include the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kolo Kyari; Chairman Shell Companies in Nigeria and Managing Director, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Osagie Okunbor and Chairman, Managing Director Chevron Nigeria Limited, Ricky Kennedy.

 Others are Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Total Energies Nigeria, Michael Sangster; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, Philip Msesinila and Chairman Managing Director, ExxonMobil companies in Nigeria, Richard Laing, while Chairman, Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), Waltersmith  Petrman Oil Limited, Abdulrazaq Isa, will deliver the closing session.

 Managing Director of Brevity Anderson, James Shinddi, said: “With the significant and accelerating global energy transition and a COVID-19 that impacted the industry’s foundations, it is our hope that this session will unfold the broad strategies to revive the industry fortune and chart a pathway for the future.

 In line with the energy transition global agenda, strategies for significant structural challenges in Nigeria’s energy mix and systems would be driven by the recognition that the target was zero-carbon emission.

 According to the United Nations in one of its publications, on energy transition. An energy revolution based on renewable and energy efficiency

 is urgently needed, not just to accelerate economic progress and development, but also to slash emissions that are rapidly warming the planet.

  Over the years, the N.I.E.S, formerly known as the Nigerian International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) is the official oil and gas meeting

of Nigeria had witnessed the highest level of attendance by top decision makers, industry leaders and stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

 N.I.E.S is the Federal Government’s official petroleum industry event with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Nigeria National Petroleum Limited, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and other agencies in the public and private sectors.
