Wunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has made a distressing revelation about the threats to her life and her son’s safety amid an ongoing feud over her late husband’s assets.
In an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo, released today on YouTube, Wunmi broke down as she shared her fears, stating that since Mohbad’s tragic death in September 2023, she has been living in constant fear.
“I receive death threats every day. Sometimes, I feel like God cheated my husband—he didn’t have to die,” she lamented. She described the turmoil of deciding whether to stay silent or speak up against the attacks she has faced from certain family members.
Wunmi accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of attempting to control Mohbad’s estate while making demeaning remarks about their son, Liam. According to her, Joseph Aloba has gone as far as questioning Liam’s paternity and making shocking claims about Mohbad’s alleged intentions towards his own child.

“My father-in-law wanted to take control of my husband’s properties and would do anything to ruin my life. He opposed my marriage to Mohbad, yet he was the happiest during our wedding. Now, he criticizes my son, claiming Liam has bow legs, something he insists doesn’t run in their family. He even said my son’s face looks older than his age. The most painful part was when he alleged that Mohbad once tried to throw our son into the lagoon under the Third Mainland Bridge,” Wunmi revealed.
Amid the accusations, Wunmi reaffirmed her willingness to undergo a DNA test to prove Liam’s paternity but expressed concerns over her father-in-law’s demand for secrecy.
“I have always been open to doing a DNA test, but he insists that if I go through with it, I must not make the results public,” she said.
