Former Nigeria’s ambassador to the Republic of Netherlands, Dr Nimota Nihinlola Akanbi, has debunked social media reports that her police orderly was carrying her food, as being portrayed in a viral video on the social media.
Akanbi, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Board of National Secondary School Education, made the clarification in a statement in Ilorin.
She said that her police orderly was carrying his own food at a community engagement they both attended in Ilorin, Kwara State.
“The truth is that I allowed him (police orderly) to pick his food. I am a teacher and disciplinarian,” she explained.
The former envoy urged Nigerians to disregard the viral video, saying that it might be the handiwork of her detractors.

She said she understands the importance and nature of work of security operatives and that she would never do anything to demean them.
Meanwhile, the police officer has been asked to report at the police headquarters in Abuja.
The Force Headquarters, which warned its operatives attached to ‘Very Important Persons’ all over the country to stop serving purposes other than protecting prominent individuals from security threats, said on Wednesday, March 2, that the viral video is being probed.
Acting Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that the police officer has been identified and summoned to Abuja.
Adejobi, who refused to provide the name of the police officer said: “He (the policeman) has been identified. He is coming to Abuja to meet us. We’ll ask questions from him and take necessary action. We need to discourage such a thing because it is embarrassing the image of the Force and we can’t continue to be experiencing that kind of a thing because it is highly unprofessional.”
