Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday declared that the visible achievements of his administration across the state have effectively weakened opposition politics, saying his government’s performance has become its strongest campaign.
The governor spoke during the commissioning of the 4.8-kilometre Oko-Amakom/Oko-Obiokpu Road in Oko Kingdom and the 1.8-kilometre Amechi–Agusi and adjoining roads in Asaba, all located in Oshimili South Local Government Area.
Oborevwori said governance should be judged by tangible results rather than promises, noting that his administration had continued to implement impactful projects across the state under the MORE Agenda.
According to him, the people of Delta can clearly see the evidence of development in their communities, stressing that when the government performs, political opposition naturally loses relevance.
“We have a report card of achievements across the state and the people can see it clearly. The people are happy, the women are happy and the host communities are happy,” he said.
The governor explained that the newly completed Oko–Amakom–Okobiobo Road would significantly improve access for farmers and traders in the area, linking communities directly to markets and the service corridor of the Second Niger Bridge.
He noted that before the construction of the road, farmers in the area faced serious challenges transporting their produce, especially during the rainy season when the terrain became almost impassable.
Oborevwori also announced that the state government had approved the second phase of the project at a cost of ₦16.9 billion, with the contract awarded to Setraco Nigeria Limited and scheduled for completion within 24 months.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Kelvin Ezenyili, commended the governor for what he described as consistent infrastructural development in the council area.
Ezenyili said Oshimili South had benefited from several projects under the Oborevwori administration, including erosion control along Summit Road, the ongoing Asaba Waterfront City project, resurfacing of major roads and the installation of solar streetlights within the capital territory.

He noted that the commissioning of the roads marked the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of the people, adding that the projects would boost economic activities, improve transportation and attract investment to the area.
Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Oko Kingdom, HRM Engr. Dr. Eze Osita, expressed appreciation to the governor for remembering the community and initiating development projects that would transform the area.
The monarch said the road project would strengthen Oko’s position as an important agricultural hub and significantly improve the movement of farm produce to markets.
He prayed for continued wisdom and divine guidance for the governor in the discharge of his responsibilities and assured him of the continued support of the community for good governance in the state.
