Muslim Public Affairs Centre condemns Benue killings
The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has condemned the latest spate of killings in Benue State, describing the continued violence as a national tragedy and a moral stain on the conscience of the country.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Executive Chairman, Dish Kamor, MPAC expressed outrage over what it termed the “mindless slaughter of innocent men, women, and children”, warning that the state has effectively become a killing field.

“This is not just a tragedy for Benue, it is a national shame that should shake every person of conscience to the core,” Kamor stated.

“The sanctity of human life is sacred. No family or community should live under the shadow of violence and impunity.”

The organization called on both the federal and Benue State state governments, as well as security agencies to go beyond routine condemnations and take bold, intelligence led, and coordinated action to end the bloodshed.

It warned that continued inaction would only embolden the perpetrators and further erode Nigeria’s core values.

MPAC emphasized that the killings were not only attacks on individuals but a direct assault on national unity, shared humanity, and the country’s collective future.

The group also urged religious leaders, traditional rulers civil society organizations and ordinary citizens to actively engage in efforts to end the violence, stating that silence and indifference only fuel the cycle of bloodshed.

“The time for lamentation has passed. What this moment demands is decisive, sincere, and sustained effort to end the carnage and secure justice for the victims,” Kamor added.

While extending its condolences to bereaved families and expressing solidarity with the people of Benue, MPAC called for immediate, effective, and lasting action to halt the killings and restore the dignity of the Nigerian nation.
