In a monumental achievement for Nigeria’s aviation sector, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially presented Aerodrome Certifications to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The certificates, symbolizing adherence to the highest global safety standards, were presented by Capt. Chris Najomo, Acting Director General of NCAA, to Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director and CEO of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The Aerodrome Certification is a vital acknowledgment of the airports’ compliance with international safety, operational, and infrastructural standards.

The recertification marks significant progress in enhancing Nigeria’s aviation safety and operational efficiency, providing passengers and stakeholders with greater confidence in the country’s aviation infrastructure.

During the presentation, Capt. Najomo commended FAAN for its commitment to improving safety measures across its managed airports. The certifications are a testament to the tireless efforts of FAAN under Mrs.

Kuku’s leadership to meet and surpass the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

With the recertification of two of Nigeria’s busiest airports, the nation strengthens its position as a hub for global air travel in Africa. This milestone not only enhances passenger safety but also signals Nigeria’s readiness to attract international partnerships, boost tourism, and facilitate economic growth.

Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku expressed her gratitude to the NCAA for the certification, emphasizing FAAN’s ongoing efforts to maintain and further improve aviation standards across Nigeria.

“This achievement is a collective win for Nigeria. It reflects our dedication to ensuring world-class safety and service for all airport users,” she said.

Industry experts and aviation stakeholders have lauded the development, describing it as a major leap forward for the Nigerian aviation industry. They emphasized that certifications like these inspire confidence among airlines and passengers while boosting Nigeria’s reputation in the global aviation market.
