The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC), Nigeria, has denounced the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli forces in international waters, calling the incident a violation of international law and a direct assault on humanitarian efforts.
The flotilla, reportedly carrying humanitarian supplies bound for Gaza, was boarded by Israeli forces, resulting in the detention of several peace and aid activists on board.
According to MPAC, the mission had received formal consent from Palestinian authorities and was aimed at delivering essential relief to Gaza’s civilian population, which remains under a prolonged and severe blockade.
In a statement issued Thursday, MPAC described the operation as “a savage act of piracy” and condemned what it views as an ongoing pattern of impunity by Israel, allegedly supported by the United States.
“The activists on board men and women of conscience from around the world embarked on this mission to deliver relief and hope to a besieged population,” said MPAC Executive Chairman, Disu Kamor. “Their detention is not only unlawful, it is an affront to humanity and international norms.”
Kamor criticized the interception as part of a broader strategy to deny Palestinians their basic rights and to obstruct international efforts aimed at alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“The siege on Gaza is already a humanitarian catastrophe,” he said. “To now criminalize those who seek to offer aid is unconscionable.”
MPAC is calling on the international community and global institutions to act swiftly by demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all detained activists, guaranteeing the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and holding Israel accountable for what the organization describes as repeated violations of international law and human rights standards.
The organization also warned that continued silence and inaction from the global community risk further escalation and human suffering.
Describing the Global Sumud Flotilla as “a symbol of hope and solidarity,” MPAC said its interception underscores the urgent need for a unified global stand in defense of justice, human rights, and humanitarian principles.
