The Federal Capital Territory, FCT minister, Chief Nyesom Wike has continued to lose more grounds in his battle against Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.
A Rivers High Court presided over by Justice Stephen Jumbo on Monday nullified the ward, local government and state congresses of the Wike backed faction of the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In July 2024, Justice Charles Wali of the State High Court had granted an injunction restraining the PDP from conducting congresses in the state.
However the national leadership of the party ignored the court’s decision and went ahead with the congresses, shutting out party members in support of Governor Fubara.

Against this background, some members of the party returned to the court to press for relief against the decision of the party to go ahead with the congresses in defiance to the order of the court.
With this development, both the PDP and the APC in the state backed by the FCT minister have returned to square one as the congresses conducted both parties in defiance to court orders have been rendered null and void.
Recall that the Tony Okocha led Rivers State executive committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC was also nullified by an order of the court . The congresses were also held in defiance to an earlier order of the court.
