The dispute surrounding the paternity test of the late singer Mohbad’s son, Liam, has taken a new turn as his widow, Wunmi, accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of frustrating the DNA process he has consistently demanded.
In a post shared on Instagram, Wunmi said the delays were not from her side, as widely claimed, but from Mr. Aloba, whom she alleged has been manipulating the situation despite initiating the court process himself. The paternity of Liam has been at the centre of public debate, with Mr. Aloba insisting on a DNA test to confirm whether the child is his late son’s biological offspring.
Court filings from her legal team show that at the latest hearing, Mr. Aloba made another request asking the court to approve two foreign hospitals he selected personally to conduct the test. The lawyers argued that this was a fresh attempt to influence a process that should remain neutral. They reminded the court that Mr. Aloba was the one who filed for the DNA test, agreed to the initial consent judgment, and later sought permission for the test to be taken abroad.

The court declined his latest request and ruled that the DNA test must be carried out at two neutral hospitals where neither side has any vested interest. Wunmi said this ruling again confirmed that the delays did not come from her but from the shifting demands of her father-in-law.
Her camp maintains that she has already expressed willingness to proceed with the test under fair conditions. The case continues to draw strong public attention as the family battles over a process that has now become as contentious as the tragedy that preceded it.
