The father of the late Nigerian artist Mohabad, Joseph Aloba, is asking the Lagos State government to take legal action against his daughter-in-law, Omowunmi Aloba, and others linked to his son’s death.
In a petition addressed to the state’s Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro, Aloba, through his lawyer Wahab Shittu, has called for the prosecution of Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who gave Mohbad an injection shortly before he passed away in September 2023.
Aloba also wants legal action against those who were in Mohbad’s apartment at the time, particularly those who either called the nurse or didn’t seek immediate medical help for him.
The petition highlights findings from a coroner’s inquest delivered in July 2025.

Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi concluded that the nurse acted unlawfully and negligently by administering the injection without a doctor’s prescription and criticized Mohbad’s wife for choosing to treat him at home instead of taking him to a hospital.
Despite the coroner’s findings, Aloba’s lawyer expressed frustration that over two months have passed without any legal action being taken against those implicated.
The letter from the lawyer urges the attorney-general to initiate prosecution within 14 days, noting the significant public interest and sensitivity of the case.
Additionally, if the state does not act, Shittu has requested formal permission to pursue the matter on behalf of the state under the relevant legal provisions.
