The Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos State, has acquitted popular musician Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, in connection with the death of his colleague, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
The ruling came from Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje on the February 25, 2025, who declared that there was no case against Marley, following legal advice from the directorate of public prosecution.
Alongside Marley, the court also cleared music promoter Samson Balogun, known as Sam Larry, Owodunni Ibrahim, referred to as Primeboy, and Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde.
However, the directorate of public prosecution announced plans to prosecute auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who treated Mohbad, and his friend, Ayobami Sadiq, for reckless and negligent acts.
Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s Marlian Records, had in the past raised concerns about threats to his life.
Viral videos and social media testimonies surfaced following his death, implicating several individuals, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry, in alleged harassment and intimidation of the late singer.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. Following his death, details emerged about a nurse who administered a tetanus vaccine on him; she was later found to be unlicensed and was arrested.
Although Mohbad was buried shortly after his death, authorities exhumed his body for further investigation due to growing public concern.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, spoke about her husband’s struggle to survive and addressed speculations surrounding his death, including a contentious request for a DNA test for their child.
She highlighted that it was Mohbad’s father who chose to proceed with the burial the day after his passing, despite suggestions to delay.
