Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Daju Kachollom has canvassed the deployment of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare delivery and adapting to global health trends.
Kachollom canvassed this approach at the meeting of the steering committee of the Global Fund Resilient and Sustainable System for Health.
The permanent secretary at the meeting underscored the critical role of innovation, accountability and collaboration in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system.
He said that data is important as accurate reporting and documentation are vital for accountability, ensuring Nigerian citizens benefit fully and development partners trust the nation’s healthcare delivery systems. Kachollom added that synergy among implementing agencies is key to maximizing grant use and achieving set goals.
“it is also necessary to prioritize alternative power sources for healthcare facilities (solar solutions), aligning with federal tertiary health institution upgrades.

“Other influences include fast-track training for line health workers to improve integrated service delivery,” the permanent secretary said.
The meeting also discussed other crucial health sector issues like modifying oxygen pricing for fairness across all states, strengthening sustainability plans to ensure long-term impact and speeding up national health insurance administrators inclusion to enhance healthcare access.
The Nigeria-Global Fund Grant for 2024–2026 was launched in February and focuses on progress against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as well as strengthening health systems and enhancing pandemic preparedness.
