Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has launched the Alternate Education and Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme for out-of-school children.
A statement signed by the ministry, said the project was launched in collaboration with the National Commission for Almajiri and Out -of -School Education (NCAOSE) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
The NCAOSE will support the initiative with trained and dedicated teachers, while NIMC will enroll the out-of-school children into the National Identity Number (NIN).
According to the minister, the collaboration stands as a model of inter-agency synergy and national service.
“The launch represents the beginning of a new era in reaching underserved and vulnerable children across Nigeria.

“Our aim is to scale this initiative to other settlements and communities nationwide, building a national framework for reintegrating our out-of-school children into safe, structured, and nourishing learning environments,” the minister said.
Prof. Yilwatda called on stakeholders, state governments, traditional institutions, religious leaders, civil society organisations, the private sector, and international development partners to rally around the new initiative.
He commended the partner agencies for making the initiative a success, as well as parents and caregivers, and the children for believing in the promise of education.
“Investing in the children is investing in the future. By equipping then with knowledge, nourishment, identity and care today, we secure for Nigeria a generation of enlightened, empowered, and patriotic citizens,” he added.
