Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, has hailed the outstanding achievements recorded by Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State within his first 100 days in office.

In a congratulatory message the minister sent to Gov. Okpebholo, he averred that the impressive milestones recorded by his administration, underscore his dedication to the progress and prosperity of the state, and setting a strong foundation for sustainable development.

Momoh said the Okpebholo ’s administration has hit the ground running, with bold and transformative initiatives across key sectors.

He pointed to the commencement of the construction of the Ramat Park Flyover in Benin City, as a visionary infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing urban mobility, which reinforces the state’s commitment to modernization.

Equally commendable, the minister added, is the ongoing revitalization of Edo Line, marked by the recent procurement of over 100 brand-new Toyota Hiace buses.

“This strategic move, set to be commissioned as part of the 100-day milestone, will not only restore inter-state transport services, but also generate employment opportunities and enhance mobility for residents and businesses across the state.

“Security has also taken center stage in the governor’s first 100 days, with strategic interventions, leading to a drastic reduction in cult-related violence and kidnappings.

“The deployment of a special tactical team, procurement of security vehicles, and reinforcement of law enforcement agencies have significantly enhanced safety and stability across Edo State,” Momoh said.

On healthcare, he asserted that the administration’s proactive approach to improved healthcare services have been remarkable, especially the establishment of the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre—the first in the South-South region—to address issues relating to maternal health.

“Furthermore, the launch of free malaria testing and treatment, digitalization of health insurance data, and upgrades to state-owned hospitals are clear indicators of Governor Okpebholo’s dedication to a healthier Edo State,” he said.

Momoh opined that economic development has also seen a boost under Gov. Okpebholo’s leadership, with his administration facilitating key investments, such as the $300 million condensate refinery, and the proposed $500 million 100MW hydropower plant, speaks to the governor’s strategic vision for industrialization and energy sustainability.

“In addition, policies promoting agricultural investments, local enterprise, and improved public service have already begun yielding positive results,” he said.

While commending Gov. Okpebholo’s unwavering commitment to the people of Edo State, the minister asserted that the federal government, “stands in full support of his administration’s efforts to accelerate growth and development.

“Edo State is on the path to transformation, and with such commendable leadership, the future holds even greater promise for its citizens.”
