The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, has donated relief materials and cash gifts to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Kuchingoro, Abuja.
The outreach, held on Saturday, was part of activities marking the birthday of President Bola Tinubu.
Doro said the visit reflects the federal government’s resolve to remain connected to vulnerable citizens, stressing that humanitarian efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda must go beyond temporary relief.
According to him, the government is focused on creating long-term solutions that enable displaced persons to rebuild their lives with dignity and achieve self-reliance.
He urged residents to remain hopeful and resilient, while also calling for continued prayers and support for the Tinubu administration.
As part of the intervention, the minister announced a cash grant of ₦10,000 each to 300 households, alongside the distribution of food items to provide immediate relief.
The event also featured the formal flag-off of the distribution exercise, with relief materials handed over to the female leader of the IDP community, symbolizing inclusivity in the process.
During the visit, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Tijjani Ahmed, disclosed that the Kuchingoro camp, established in 2014, currently accommodates 261 households with an estimated population of about 1,500 persons.
He noted that most of the residents were displaced from Gwoza in Borno State and parts of Adamawa State.
Ahmed commended the minister for what he described as impactful and timely interventions since assuming office, adding that all households in the camp would benefit from food distribution.
