In a meeting at the Government House in Maiduguri, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar lauded Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his unwavering support to the Nigerian military in the fight against insurgency.
The minister acknowledged Zulum’s courageous visits to front lines, where he risked his life to motivate troops.
The minister, accompanied by a delegation including the Chief of Defence Staff and other high-ranking military officials, conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appreciation for Governor Zulum’s consistent support.
The visit aimed to assess the security situation in Borno State and expedite efforts to end over a decade of insurgency.
In response to the commendation, the governor reassured his commitment to supporting the military.

He pledged to provide the necessary political will to achieve lasting peace and stability in Borno and the entire northeast region.
Zulum highlighted the significant improvement in the security situation in Borno but urged the military to eliminate insurgents from key areas, including Sambisa forest and Mandara Mountains.
Additionally, the Governor emphasized the importance of stability in the Lake Chad Basin, envisioning it as a catalyst for realizing President Tinubu’s food security initiative.
Zulum expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his leadership in addressing insurgency and other security challenges nationwide.
