Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has been honoured. It is for his immense contribution to social-economic and sports development by popular lifestyle and showbiz magazine, Global Excellence.
Dare, who was honoured with the ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the award ceremony tagged, “Excellence Recognition Awards 2022”, held at the Balmoral Hall, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, is a proponent of homegrown talents and grassroots sports development.
According to Mayor Akinpelu, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Global Excellence magazine, the Minister deserved to be honoured for the excellence and innovations he has brought into Ministry.

Akinpelu noted that Dare’s tenure as Minister has witnessed a lot of initiatives that have positively impacted the sector leading to the nation’s best performance in 13 years at the Tokyo Olympics and her best-ever outing at the 202O World U20 Athletics Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.
The publisher stressed that since Dare ascended into the helms of the Ministry, the welfare of athletes, both able bodied and special, has taken a prominent and central place in the activities of the Ministry.
Akinpelu underlined that the rehabilitation of national sports edifices like the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, and the Obafemi Awolowo(formerly Liberty) Stadium in Ibadan have now taken centre stage under Dare’s administration.
