The Mennonite Church in Nigeria have concluded training of 38 teachers on workforce activation and leadership in Akwa Ibom.state.
Speaking at the closing session of the training in Uyo on Thursday, the country Director of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Mr Matthew Tangbuin said the training was unprecedented in the history of the organization.
He said the Mennonite Central Committee is an Non Governmental Organization arm of the church mission aimed at training manpower, embark on projects and impacts on lives of young people in Nigeria.
Tangbuin explained that the conference on the theme ” Effective Workforce Activation and Leadership, Teaching for Transformation” was facilitated by Executive Director of Five Stone Consult David Fadeyi and Proprietor Brainy Hive Schools Pastor David Ogunshola respectively.
He explained that teachers in all Mennonite Stars International Schools from Ikot Eyo, Ikot Obio Ama, Ikot Ekang and Odiok benefitted from the training which will in turn impact on their schools.

Tangbuin stated that participants were encouraged to put more effort and bring out the best in order to improve schools in their respective domains.
He said participants vowed to renew their interest and commitment in the teaching profession and expressed their desire for deeper collaboration within the workspace.
” Lessons learnt were seen as an eye opener to the participants who felt blessed to be part of the training.
“Participants also reflected on how they can incorporate the conference key learnings into their own teaching practice/experience while the conference ended with a closing affirmation from the participants.”
One of the Mennonite Central Committee members in charge of projects Engr Anyanime Umoren said apart from the teachers training ,the committee in partnership with Mennonite Church, Nigeria has provided tuition free education for indigent , vulnerable and at risk children.
“At ikot Eyo, Nsit ubium LGA, school uniforms, shoes, bags, exercise books are provided free to enable vulnerable children to have access to quality education.
“These generosity will be extended to vulnerable children in Ukanafun, OrukAnam and other communities in future”. He said.
