Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is officially returning to the big screen after an eight-year break from acting. The former Suits star will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming comedy film Close Personal Friends, directed by Jason Orley. The movie features an impressive cast that includes Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, and Henry Golding.

Filming is currently underway in Los Angeles, though details about Markle’s character remain tightly under wraps. According to People magazine, the Duchess was spotted on set looking cheerful and composed as she mingled with cast and crew. “She appeared very relaxed and kind. Meghan introduced herself to everyone and showed genuine warmth,” a source revealed.

The film tells the story of an ordinary couple whose visit to Santa Barbara takes an unexpected turn after they befriend a celebrity couple, sparking a series of humorous and awkward encounters. The screenplay, written by Isaac Aptaker and produced alongside Elizabeth Berger, promises a sharp and witty take on fame, friendship, and modern relationships.

Other cast members include Melissa Villaseñor, Natasha Demetriou, Anna Konkle, Patti Harrison, Jack Shalloo, and Dustin Demri-Burns.

Markle’s involvement marks her first on-screen role since she left Hollywood in 2017 to marry Prince Harry. Her departure from Suits and subsequent royal duties placed her acting career on hold, but sources say this new role reflects her renewed passion for storytelling. “This is a meaningful step for Meghan,” one insider told People. “She’s taking her time, testing the waters, and reconnecting with her love for acting.”

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have focused on their production company, Archewell, and their philanthropic work. The couple currently resides in Santa Barbara with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Close Personal Friends is expected to premiere in 2026 and is already generating major buzz as Meghan Markle’s much-anticipated Hollywood comeback.
