Many people are feared dead and at least 10 houses burnt in Ndieguzu Agalegu Omege Community in the Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
It was gathered that many people were injured after persons suspected to be hoodlums attacked the community.
The crisis allegedly erupted between the people of Omege Agalagu and Ukwuinyima.
Details of what led to the clash was still sketchy as at press time, but a source in the community, said the current crisis is as a result of an earlier clash that happened in November 2024, when a woman was allegedly raped to death.
“More than 10 houses and property worth millions of naira have been burnt. The government needs to do something,” the source said.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
“Her death led to member of her community attacking Omege and burning down some mud houses with thatched roofs.
“But the police mobilised and stopped them from inflicting further damage. The crisis has been curtailed at the moment,” DSP Ukandu stated.
He said the police are maintaining order in the area and had also launched an investigation.
The state Commissioner for Information, Jude Okpor, said the state government is aware of the incident and is doing its best to control the crisis.
He said: “It was a misunderstanding between two youths from the villages you mentioned that degenerated into a free-for-all fight and resulted in the unfortunate incident. However, it has been brought under control.”
