Manchester United is looking to acquire Wolves forward Matheus Cunha this summer.
According to a BBC report on Tuesday, the Brazilian, who has a release clause of £62.5 million in his contract with Wolves, is anticipated to depart from Molineux at the season’s conclusion.
Several club insiders have informed BBC Sport that the 25-year-old is among several forward options on United’s radar, which also includes Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, 22.
Enhancing United’s goal-scoring ability is a key objective for head coach Ruben Amorim. Only Southampton, Leicester City, Ipswich, Everton, and West Ham have scored fewer than the 38 goals United has achieved in 33 Premier League matches this season.
Cunha is seen as a perfect fit for one of the two attacking midfield roles in Amorim’s favored 3-4-2-1 formation.
As Wolves’ leading scorer this season with 16 goals across all competitions, Cunha operates in a similar tactical setup under the current manager, Vitor Pereira.

Manchester United is likely to encounter competition from several Premier League teams for the services of Cunha, as Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle are all reportedly interested in acquiring a forward this summer.
Cunha has netted 32 goals in 87 appearances for Wolves; however, his disciplinary issues could raise some red flags for potential buyers.
The former Atletico Madrid striker has received two red cards this season, leading to a total of six games missed due to suspension.
In a March interview with the Observer, he mentioned that he has informed Wolves of his desire to “take the next step” and pursue title wins.
United’s preparations for the upcoming season are complicated by uncertainty surrounding their financial status.
Conservatively speaking, the club could expect to receive approximately £100 million in additional revenue if they succeed in winning this season’s Europa League and secure a spot in the Champions League.
