Tragedy struck on Sunday, 17th November, 2024, at the popular Express Junction, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, when a middle-aged man was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
The incident which occured at about 9:20 pm, eyewitnesses reports that a group of young men, seemingly of the same age as the victim, crossed the road to confront him.
“There was a brief argument, and within seconds, we heard a gunshot,” one witness recounted.
Another witness suggested the attack might be linked to a rivalry between cult groups, as the victim was shot in the mouth.
According to Ogo Clarkson, a reporter with a local medium, who visited the scene, the victim was identified by locals as a regular street hustler known for loading vehicles and collecting illegal tolls from drivers in the area.

“The victim was well-known in the area for his daily activities,” Clarkson reported, adding that he was described by some as stubborn, which has left the motive behind the attack unclear.
As of the time of his visit, the Nigeria Police had not arrived at the scene to begin investigations. The victim’s body remains at the scene, and the suspects are still at large.
The motive for the attack remains uncertain, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
