The Inspector -General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a major reshuffle and the redeployment of senior officers across various commands and formations.
The reshuffling, which takes immediate effect, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance effective policing, and address emerging security challenges in the country.
According to an official signal from the Force Headquarters, the redeployment affects assistant inspectors -general of police, and commissioners of police, with notable postings aimed at strengthening key operational zones and departments.
The reassigned assistant- inspector generals of police are Margaret Ochalla – AIG FCID Annex, Lagos; Abayomi Peter Oladipo – AIG Zone 13, Ukpo; Fred Ekokotu – AIG Zone 11, Osogbo; Iwo Nemi Edwin Osigboka – AIG Border Patrol Force, FHQ Abuja, and Garba Ahmed – AIG Department of Training and Development (DTD), FHQ Abuja.
Others include, Salman Dogo – AIG Zone 5, Benin; Kanayo Uzuegbu – AIG Zone 9, Umuahia; Patrick Adedeji Atayero – AIG Zone 16, Yenagoa, and Tolani Alausa – AIG Zone 17, Akure.
Additionally, several commissioners of police have been elevated to assistant inspector -general of police, and reassigned accordingly.
The notable postings include, Mobolaji Victor Olaiya – AIG INTERPOL, FHQ Abuja; Laolu Adegbite, AIG Community Policing, Research & Planning, FHQ Abuja; Clement Robert – AIG Zone 10, Sokoto, and Gyongon Augustine Grimah – AIG attached to the office of the national security adviser.

Others are Thomas Abraham Nabhon – AIG Zone 3, Yola; Musa Auwal Mohammed – AIG Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), FHQ Abuja; Olatunji Disu – AIG Zone 12, Bauchi; Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu – AIG Investment, FHQ Abuja; Fasuba Akinyele – AIG FHQ Annex, Lagos; Musa Kareem – AIG FCID Annex, Enugu; Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere – AIG Zone 14, Katsina, and Aliyu Abubakar Musa – AIG Department of Finance and Administration, FHQ Abuja
The inspector -general of police directed officers on higher duty posts, to refrain from wearing their new ranks until further notice.
This directive, he said is intended to ensure a seamless transition, and maintain order during the reshuffling process.
“The mass redeployment is part of a broader strategy to enhance security operations across Nigeria.
“By repositioning experienced officers to critical zones and departments, the Nigeria Police Force aims to improve response times, strengthen community policing, and address emerging threats such as terrorism, border security, and organized crime.
“The redeployed officers are expected to assume their new roles immediately, with the police leadership expressing confidence that the reshuffling will yield positive results in the fight against crime and insecurity,” the police said.
