Liverpool will kick off their Premier League title defense tonight against Bournemouth in what is expected to be an emotional night at Anfield, with Diogo Jota’s family in attendance for a special tribute.
This match is the Reds’ first league game since the tragic passing of Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, in a car accident in July.
Before the match starts, tributes will be made to the two, with Jota’s wife, children, and extended family anticipated to be present.
Manager Arne Slot acknowledged the significance of the event in his pre-match program notes, as stated in a club announcement on Friday.

“We understand that this will be a very emotional occasion, being the first league match since we lost Diogo and Andre.
“As I’ve mentioned before, the tributes from the football community, especially within the LFC family, have been incredibly special, and I know that tonight we will unite once again to honour them.
“I believe Diogo’s wife, children, and family will be here, and it’s vital that we, as a club, show them our love and support as they navigate this tragic situation. We will always be there for them,” he wrote.
