Liverpool has completed the signing of Italy’s star forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus, marking one of the most significant transfers of the summer. The two clubs confirmed the deal on Thursday, with Juventus revealing the transfer fee to be €12 million ($13.3 million), plus an additional €3 million in potential add-ons.
Chiesa, 26, has inked a long-term contract with Liverpool, bringing his electrifying pace and goal-scoring prowess to Anfield. Despite a serious knee injury in 2022 that sidelined him for 10 months, Chiesa made a triumphant return last season, netting 10 goals and providing three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Juventus.
Over his four-year stint with the Turin giants, Chiesa scored 32 goals in 131 matches, having initially joined Juventus on loan from Fiorentina in 2020. His versatility allows him to play both as a winger and through the center, making him a valuable addition to Liverpool’s attacking options.
Expressing his excitement, Chiesa said, “I’m so happy to be a Liverpool player. When [sporting director] Richard Hughes and coach Arne Slot called, it was an immediate yes for me. I know the history of this club and what it means to the fans.”

Chiesa’s move to Liverpool comes after he fell out of favor with Juventus’ new manager, Thiago Motta, missing the club’s opening league games this season. His arrival at Liverpool adds to an already potent attacking lineup featuring Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez.
In an emotional video on Instagram, Chiesa shared his excitement, stating, “It’s a dream come true. When I think of Liverpool, I think of trophies, victories, and those incredible Champions League nights at Anfield. I can’t wait to hear 60,000 fans singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ I’ll give everything for this shirt and the fans. Forza Liverpool!”
Chiesa, who has scored seven goals in 51 caps for Italy, was a crucial part of Italy’s Euro 2020-winning squad and also featured in this year’s European Championship. His signing follows Liverpool’s earlier acquisition of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in a £30 million ($39.46 million) deal, signaling the club’s intent to compete at the highest levels next season.
